I definately think Sonic Jam is worth the $44.99 I paid for it. It's
great to have, especially since I don't have any of the Sonic games on
Genesis. All the games are the same, except there's a save feature on
Sonic 1 and 2 now, you can spin dash in Sonic 1, and there's a Time Attack
option on each game. And when you lock on Sonic & Knuckles with Sonic
1, you can play all the secret special stages
just like you could when locking on to any other Genesis cartridge. There
is also a digital instruction manual for each game in English or Japanese.
Sonic World
Sonic World is a 3D environment in which you can get to lots of extra goodies
on Sonic Jam. You can also complete 8 "quests" in Sonic World, after which
you get a "special surprise". That special surprise is just the credits
to the game. Here's the different things in Sonic World:
Character House
See profiles for Sonic and hid pals, or Robotnik and his badniks. It even
has a few black and white pictures if you press the L and R buttons when
viewing a profile.
Music Shop
Listen to music and sound effects from all the games included on Sonic
Jam.
Movie Theater
Excellent quality, FULL SCREEN, Sonic videos! This is my favorite section
in Sonic World. Here's what they have:
-
Sonic CD Opening and Ending (With the music from the Japanese version of
Sonic CD)
-
Sonic Anime preview (A pretty long one)
-
Some kind of other Sonic cartoon....can't figure out where it's from.
It looks like mostly computer animation, and Robotnik looks like he does
in Japan...
-
Sonic Ride (I have no idea what this could be from)
-
Japanese Commercials:
-
Two for Sonic 1
-
Two for Sonic 2
-
Sonic 3
-
Sonic Spinball
-
Sonic CD
-
Sonic Chaos (Sonic & Tails in Japan)
-
Triple Trouble (Sonic & Tails 2 in Japan)
-
Sonic Drift (Released only in Japan)
My favorite would have to be the Sonic CD commercial. The Sonic 3 commercial
is pretty nifty too tho.
Art Gallery
Renderings of Sonic and his pals.
Hall of Fame
The entire history of Sonic the Hedgehog.
That's about it for the game....oh yeah, if you put the CD in your
computer, there's a directory called "EXTRA". There's some BMP files in
it, just like there were in NiGHTS. You can see them by clicking here.
For some Sonic Jam Quicktime clips, check out the video
section.
